Three Undergrads Won 2013 Liu Guangding Scholarship of Geophysics
Recent news from Liu Guangding Geophysics Science Foundation came that three undergraduates majoring in geophysics from our School have been awarded the 2013 Liu Guangding Scholarship of Geophysics. The Scholarship was establishedin 2007 by academician and famous geophysicist Liu Guangding, which aims at sponsoring university students with brilliant scholarship and lofty aspiration who are devoted to geophysical researches. The grant for the 2013 Scholarship winner is 10 thousand RMB.
Prof. Liu Guangding graduated from department of physics, Beijing University in 1952. In 1980, Liu was elected as academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and in 1993, as academician of The World Academy of Sciences for the Advancement of Science in Developing Countries. Prof. Liu was also chairman for the fifth and sixth advisory board of Chinese Geophysical Society. Since 1979, Prof. Liu was appointed by Tongji University as adjunct professor, and for every semester, Liu gave lectures and instructed graduate students for the School, bringing in frontier information and knowledge of petroleum geology and geophysicsandhave thus contributed greatly to the development of ocean sciences of Tongji.
